Port and Stilton Burger
sweet potato friesJust posting these pictures is making my mouth water! Umami means "good flavor" in Japanese but is described as "savory," the fifth taste.
Due to a disappointing food truck chase (btw, Monday is the worst day to hunt food trucks. Most of them are off) Abigail and I decided to eat at a place that was recommended to me. Umami Burger. First of all, yes, the burgers were as good as they look in the pictures. Those are the most photogenic burgers ever.
I had the Waialua mango soda and when it arrived at my table I was pleasantly pleased to see a hula girl on the label because I study the art of Hula and anything Hawaiian/Islander makes me happy. I'm not a big carbonation fan but this soda is lightly carbonated and not overly sugary like most fruit sodas. It was perfect for a non-soda drinker like me.
I ordered the Umami Burger and Abigail had the Port and Stilton Burger. This burger definitely makes the Top 3 of the best burgers I have ever had. They are served medium rare and are double juicy. You can even see the bun soaking up all those good juices in my pictures. The umami burger had a parmesean crisp, roasted tomato, and shitake mushroom. The port and stilton had blue cheese and carmelized onions. On the side: sweet potato fries. These fries are served differently in that instead of having a sprinkle of salt, they had a sprinkle of brown sugar, and along with the home-made ketchup it was finger-lickin' good.
Although we didn't make it to any trucks we got the better end of the deal. Thank you Umami Burger! We will definitely return.
