A warm atmosphere even on a cool night. Alcove is a cafe and bakery located in the Loz Feliz area. Not just an average coffee shop, they take pride in the quality of their products - artisan pastries, fresh roasted espresso, and crafted paninis. The best seat in the house is outside especially at night. Twinkle lights and candles surround the enormous patio giving the best subtle glow. I didn't want to ruin the feel with flashes going off every minute to take pictures of my food so I did the best I could.
Ordering anything but dessert at the register is almost impossible with the teasing those treats do behind the glass. I had to scrape my face off the case. I ultimately gave in to my hunger and ordered the open-faced grilled salmon sandwich with a citrus mint vinaigrette. Ritchie ordered the ham + cheese panini with sliced pears. The portions were large. My salmon was grilled a little under but that's the way I like it. The sliced pears in the ham + cheese definitely was a sweet surprise.
Of course I didn't leave without dessert - mixed berry tart and espresso to finish the meal. One slice is definitely enough for two people. But I hear the red velvet here is the best. I guess I'm just going to have to come back soon =)
