Breakfast Anytime

After trying so many delicious Los Angeles food trucks there is one that sticks out in my mind.  The Buttermilk Truck.  Almost everything on this truck is made with, you guessed it, buttermilk.  They specialize in breakfast foods such as pancakes, waffles, buscuits, and even fried chicken.  The truck itself is inviting and adorned with a large illustration of Buttermilk Boy.  Here was my breakfast that day.

Ube Pancake Bites
Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich with a fried egg and applewood smoked bacon
Rosemary Hash Brown
I had followed the truck on Twitter after reading they had ube pancakes on board that day.  I just had to try them.  I had tried the red velvet chocolate chip pancakes before and they were to die for!  (click here to read about it) The ube pancakes this time were deliciously moist and buttery with a hint of the ube flavor.  The mound of whipped butter on top had some coconut flakes whipped in it.  It reminded me of a Filipino pastry called bibingka which traditionally has butter and grated coconut sprinkled on top.

I then tried the buttermilk biscuit breakfast sandwich with applewood smoked bacon and a side of rosemary garlic hash brown.  "Watch your shirt" he says as I pick up my sandwich.  The egg is cooked over easy so the yolk runs throughout the center of the sandwich.  So yummy, and I was successful not to get any on my shirt.  The cut of the bacon was nice and thick giving the right amount of saltiness to the sandwich.  By the end of the sandwich I was beginning to get full.  Then lo and behold, I find my little hashbrown patty at the bottom of my bag.  I take a bite.  The rosemary came through right away.  I lick my lips and to my surprise I taste garlic salt.  Wow, it was a perfect ending to my brunch.
