Cafe Bizou

Los Angelenos, I hope you didn't miss out on DineLA Restaurant Week on Oct 3-8 & 10-15.  It was a great reason to try out new restaurants for a reasonable price.  The first day of restaurant week I came across this cafe in Sherman Oaks for Sunday lunch Cafe Bizou, a French cuisine restaurant.  They offered a 3-course meal for $16!  That sounded like a deal to me.  When Andrew and I walked in, there was noticeably an older crowd dining here.  It felt like I stepped onto the set of the Golden Girls.  Ah, I miss that show.

However, the food made up for the ambiance.  For the first course I ordered the lobster bisque and Andrew had the baked mushrooms.  Both very good and the lobster was fresh.  The baked mushrooms were stuffed and had a balsamic sherry glaze with an endive salad.  For the second course I had the NY steak with a brandy cream sauce (a bit heavy for lunch, I know, but where else can you get NY steak for that price?) and Andrew had the lobster angel hair pasta with a vodka sauce, tomatoes and mushrooms.  I ended up trading with Andrew because I liked his better.  He didn't mind.  Finally we ended our large lunch with tiramisu and flourless chocolate cake.   They were both delicious, I couldn't decide whether I wanted to trade or not so I just ate the majority of both.
