Baking a Difference

Last weekend I participated in the Great American Bake Sale with my friend the Abs of Cakes. We volunteered to bake cheesecakes, red velvet cake pops, macaroons, cupcakes, doggie treats, s'mores, marshmallow treats, chocolate covered bacon (yes, really) and Sweetheart cookies.

What did we volunteer for?  A great cause - to help end childhood hunger in America.  1 in 10 U.S. households doesn't have enough food.  All the proceeds will help support after-school and summer programs to provide nutritious meals to communities at risk.  Learn more at Share Our Strength.

Abs decorated a Chinese New Year cake to raffle off.  Congratulations to the contestant that won.  We hope it was delish.  Thank you to our friend June who took these top two photos. Check out her work here.

The event was a great success! Thank you to everyone who supported the cause.  It was a wonderful experience and I'm sure the families in these communities will appreciate all the support.  We had such a blast, and who knows maybe you should keep an eye out for another of one of our bake sales in the future.

If you want to get involved in a Great American Bake Sale register on their site and I can answer any questions you may have.  Just leave a comment.
