A Weekend to Remember

Wow, what a week.  I went to NYC over the weekend with Andrew and we visited one of the best brunch spots, Clinton St. Baking Company.  As soon as you walk in you can smell the warm butter intensely.  The food was so memorable I can see why Bobby Flay wanted to throw down with the owners, The Kleinbergs (let's not talk about the outcome... I'm bitter every time he wins).  Nevertheless, it does not reflect badly on the quality of their baked goods and food.  I mean, they were voted "best pancakes" by New York Magazine (twice!) and "best breakfast/brunch" by Time Out NY just to name a few recognitions.  What does Bobby know anyway?  (Just kidding Bobby, you are a respectable chef.)  Anyway, on to the food.

Eggs Benedict {$15}
Blueberry Pancakes with Maple Butter {$13}
Can I say that those were the best Eggs Benedict that Andrew and I have ever had?  Thick slabs of grilled ham, perfectly poached eggs, buttery homemade biscuits, oh those biscuits... Then it was topped with a classic hollandaise sauce and a sprinkle of scallions and chopped tomato that gave it a slight freshness.

Their pancakes have won several awards.  They are so fluffy!  The maple butter and blueberry compote work in perfect unison.  Not too sweet.  The plate comes with three large pancakes and it is quite a large portion but they were so good I almost cleaned off my plate and part of Andrew's Eggs Benedict.  Can someone send me some of their pancakes? Yes? Maybe I'll just make some from the Clinton St. Baking Company Cookbook.  Hopefully they come out as good.

Lastly, I want to announce that Andrew proposed over the weekend on top of the Rockafeller Center with the view of Manhattan surrounding us.  I know! Wow, it's still a shock to me.  I said YES of course!  I am quite the luckiest girl.  It was a perfect weekend in New York with the perfect man.
