Smorgasburg

One of the best treats to my weekends is a local artisan food and flea market in Williamsburg, Brooklyn called Smorgasburg.  It is right off the waterfront and has a stunning view of NYC.  They occur on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-4pm.  Although the best time to get there is early because lines can get pretty long and if you go in the late afternoon vendors may sell out or start to pack up early.

Let me take you on my Smorgasburg tour.  Some vendors change weekly and some are residents.  Either way, you'll find one that is sure to tickle your taste buds and satisfy your tummy.

Fried anchovies (with the head on cause that's the way I like it!) {$6}- Bonchovie
Mighty Quinn's BBQ's beef brisket with pickled onions {$9}
Loroco (an edible flower) and chicharron (fried pig rinds) pupusa platter {$7} - Solber Pupusas

Porchetta sandwich with yummy rosemary pork inside a ciabatta roll {$6} and spicy dan dan noodles from Noodle Lane {$5}

Mini pumpkin cupcake with lavender frosting {$1.50} - Kumquat Cupcakery
Blood orange doughnut with candied orange peels from Dough {$3}
After grabbing your eats you can sit at the adjacent park and enjoy the view of NYC.
My top 3 choices are 1) Dough.  I am a doughnut fiend.  I love the fluffiness of their doughnuts and their flavors are so intensely addicting.  2) Bonchovie.  If you don't like anchovies you should definitely try these! No, seriously.  They are lightly breaded, fried and then served with a smoked paprika aioli.  3) Mighty Quinn's BBQ.  I couldn't find a website for them so this may be the only place to find them.  That explains their long line.  The sandwiches are packed with sweet, smoky, tangy meat and the bun soaks up every bit of those juices.  Yum.

November 19 and 20 (uhm this weekend...) is the last day they will have the venue outdoors.  The sun will be out tomorrow so stop by, check it out, and take in the views.  You'll be happy you did.
