I love it when people take me to restaurants that I have never been to before.  I'm always down for trying new things especially when they turn out to be really tasty.  A couple friends took me and Andrew to Zengo by Chef Richard Sandoval in Santa Monica.  They have perfectly balanced the fusion between Latin and Asian flavors.  The plates are sharable, which I prefer so that everyone can have a taste of everything.  Here are some of the highlights of our meal.
Tamarind-Togarashi Margarita {$11}
Thai shrimp lettuce wraps {$13}
Thai chicken empanadas with mango salsa {$10}
Achiote-hoisin pork arepas with avocado and crema fresca {$9}
Shrimp vegetable potsticker {$11}
Angus skirt steak churrasco {$25}
Chipotle-miso glazed black cod with lemon-togarashi aoli and pea shoots {$27}
Sea bass with an edamame-tofu puree {$14}
Peking duck-daikon tacos with curried apple and orange-coriander sauce {$13}
Overall, dinner was amazing.  Everything looked and tasted so good.  I wish I could pick out my favorites from this meal but I would literally be naming every dish.  That's what happens when friends take you out and pick out their favorites from a menu they know.  So relax and let your friends make the dinner decisions next time.

I'm so excited for Dine LA Restaurant Week, and Zengo is participating.  They are offering a three course dinner for $34 a person.  If this doesn't sound like a good deal go during happy hour and they offer selected small plates for only $5 and cocktails for $6.  That gives me a good reason to go again soon.
